About Us

Our club is made up of people that have a love of flowers. They enjoy seeing them arranged into creative displays by talented demonstrators.

We run workshops suitable for all abilities to gain hands on experience for creating designs. There are courses available through NAFAS membership to gain qualifications in floral design. However if you want to sit back and enjoy the wonderful arrangements, that's okay too and there's always a chance you will win one in the raffle.

We have one outing per year, usually in June, to a garden within our area.

The Club is run by a committee of members and at present comprises of a Chairman, Secretary, Programme Secretary, Treasurer and general committee members. We hold our AGM in February.

Annual membership fee is £35.00 per annum.
Visitors welcome £7.00 on the door.

NAFAS - National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies

Members of Sandy Flower Club automatically gain affiliate membership of NAFAS – the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies, which is a registered charity. Our subscription fees include an affiliation fee to NAFAS.

Sandy Flower Club is part of the Cambridge Group of Flower Arrangement Clubs. There are currently 26 clubs in the Cambridge Group and this group is part of the East of England Area Association.

NAFAS is the organisation which accredits demonstrators, speakers, judges and teachers of Flower Arranging and in turn is part of a world-wide organisation. The various levels of this organisation meet regularly to ensure standards are adhered to and that groups and individual clubs are working to an overall set of rules. You can see more about NAFAS by visiting their website at WWW.nafas.org.uk

NAFAS members have in the past been invited to help arrange flowers for Royal Weddings. Six NAFAS members helped arrange the flowers in 2011 for the Royal Wedding in the Abbey.

Flower Arranger Magazine

Many members subscribe to the Flower Magazine. This glossy magazine is full of wonderful tips on creating decorative arrangements for your home or fabulous ideas for your garden. Each quarter there are step by step guides to creating an arrangement. There are also many stories, features and ideas for every season. Purchasing the magazine through the club is cheaper than purchasing in a newsagent or supermarket.

Outings

The Committee organises trips of interest. These outings are a good opportunity to bring friends and family along to a club event.

Members also attend both NAFAS Area and Group events and demonstrations which are most informative and can be extremely entertaining.

Fundraising

As well as the usual raffles at our meetings, Sandy Flower Club hold occasional fundraising activities to help ensure we can afford the best demonstrations for the Club.
Basic flower arranging supplies are on sale at monthly meetings. We also have a Bring and Buy each month. Members bring plants and flower related items for sale.

Helping out

Most of our members join in with Club activities and help by making teas, welcoming new members, bringing raffle prizes, etc. Being part of Sandy Flower Club is a great way to make new friends.
